1906 Cannabis Review: What You Should Know Before Trying

1906 | Leaf Haus

The world of cannabis has become quite an expansive marketplace. With thousands upon thousands of different strains of flower to smoke, carts to vape, and brownies to munch on there is one brand that uniquely stands out. That brand is 1906. While the company was founded just over seven years ago, the historical meaning behind 1906 reaches back as far as its namesake suggests. Their unique recipes for no-chewing edibles consist of THC, CBD, and plant-based ingredients individually crafted to achieve their targeted euphoric effect.

“1906 gets its name from the last time cannabis was nationally accepted as a widely used, beneficial medicine” – Peter Barsoom, CEO, N.Y. Time

While the rest of the world was dancing to Drake and Future’s What A Time To Be Alive in 2015, 1906 Founder Peter Barsoom was cooking up an idea of his own. He noticed how many Americans faced problems revolving around stress and anxiety. So much so that most doctor-prescribed medicines are provided in pill form. It seemed strange to Peter that no one had thought of doing the same thing with cannabis.

However, it wasn’t until multiple failed attempts at successfully creating a multi-plant infused chocolate that tasted as good as it worked did Peter have an idea to create a line of fast-acting, pill-based edibles that don’t require chewing. These pills quickly became 1906’s fastest-selling product, with 5 different options to choose from. He called them Drops.

So, what are these pills? What can they do? And why should you be interested in trying them? When most people think of edibles, they think of the classic magic brownies or cookies. Enter, 1906 Drops: A pill line designed for just about any occasion! The choices include Bliss, Genius, Love, Go, Chill, Sleep, and Boost. Each consists of its own unique balance of natural florals, THC, CBD, RSO, and Caffeine for select options. While the doses themselves are micro per pill, the effects come with some pretty big benefits. Here’s my review of a couple of their products:

Eat Smart. Feel like a Genius:

Starting with what I’ve found to be the most productive-driven flavors. The Genius drops are the key you need for locking in! Oftentimes, I find it hard to focus on any one thing and would bounce around from task to task without ever actually completing them. Super frustrating, right?! But after getting my hands on The Genius drops, I see why they quickly became popular. Infused with only 2.5mg of THC, 5mg of CBD, and 2.5mg of CBG, I felt my potential had become limitless!

Being the first “fast-acting” edible I’d ever had, I was admittedly skeptical. They’re paired with plants like the Rhodiola Root and the Bacopa for better cognitive function; Galangal Root Extract, L-Theanine, and Theobromine for sharper alertness and energy. Along with the added effects of caffeine and THC, these pills are sure to turn you into a task-killing machine

Just Chilling:

On the opposite end of the proverbial spectrum are the more calming Chill pills. The ingredients used in this concoction are simple. Just a bit of Magnolia root to target inflammation with its tension-relieving properties, which pairs greatly with the effects of THC and CBD. L-Theanin also finds its way in this line because of the calming and serene-inducing effects it provides. All of these come together to give you that guilt-free couch potato vibe you may be seeking after a long stressful day of adulting.

Adjusting Your Sleep Schedule

While the company’s many assets have had varying success stories, not every product was able to reap the same rewards without a hitch. Back in 2023, 1906 faced a problem with its defunct Midnight line (now Sleep). Initially included in the active ingredients, Corydalis, was later replaced with Sephalia when consumers were reportedly experiencing liver problems. In a study by the National Library of Medicine, it was found that both plants included the compound tetrahydropalmatine (THP) which contributed to increased liver enzymes resulting in damage over long-term use.

Eventually, the Sleep Line was recalled to only consist of THC, CBD, and RSO for increased potency in the synthesizing process.

While the Midnight pills did help to provide a comfortable sleep, the non-plant-based Sleep line is what REALLY puts your doubts to rest. Where most edibles work best with fat-soluble snacks, these bad boys work with a partner or stag. Your tolerance to them can build up fairly quickly, so I’ve reserved to taking them only on the truly restless nights. I must say, as someone who suffers from mild insomnia and back pains at night, the Sleep pills have helped with both pains and getting a restful good night. Not only do they help minor inflammation, but I have also not encountered the next day groggies when recovering.

Conclusion

Cannabis has been found to have its own associated potential health risks. It’s important to remember that everyone has different experiences and react differently. As mentioned above, the more experienced users may encounter a quicker tolerance buildup for these edibles. I’ve taken between 3-4 to achieve the same effects as my initial introduction to them. That is to say, more experienced users may find them a bit underwhelming in comparison.

Inversely, for those they do work for, 1906 includes several other additional lines to enjoy! Including the Bliss pill, Go!, Love, and Boost for the THC purists. These fast-acting snacks do wonders for those with a lighter tolerance.

Ultimately, the edible experience is unique to us all. I find they can be just as good as any product to start with, if not better. The drops find themselves in a wider variety of dietary options as a gluten-free vegan alternative. All in all, 1906 is a great choice for beginners and microdosers alike. Don’t just take my word for it though. As they say, seeing (or eating), is believing. If you’re interested, then head on over to our website to try them out for yourself. We’re running a $25 special on our 1906 tins!
